报告题目:Manufacturing-oriented structural topology optimization

地点:中铝科技大楼B503

时间:2016年8月09日(星期二)下午3:00

主讲人:刘继凯博士

报告内容:

In the past two decades, structural topology optimization has become an active research field and the related algorithms developed create a powerful approach to perform innovative and efficient conceptual design activities. Among the directions of topology optimization research, increasingly more extensions are oriented towards manufacturability of the optimized designs. Hence, the state-of-art of manufacturing oriented topology optimization will be reported, while the reporter’s contributions are highlighted.

Specifically, manufacturing-oriented topology optimization subject to the traditional manufacturing methods of machining and injection molding/casting are reviewed, because the majorities of engineering parts are manufactured through these methods and complex design requirements are associated. Then, the challenges and opportunities related to the emerging additive manufacturing (AM) are highlighted. SIMP (Solid Isotropic Material with Penalization) and level set are the concerned topology optimization methods.

报告人简介:

Dr. Jikai Liu is currently a postdoctoral research associate in Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Alberta, Canada. He received his Ph.D. degree from University of Alberta in 2016 and the Bachelor degree from the Central South University in 2010. From June, 2015, he served as a product design consultant at Corbel 3D, Vancouver, Canada. Before that, he part-timely worked at Canada Pump and Power, Edmonton, Canada for 2 year. His research focused on manufacturing-oriented topology optimization, which addressed the manufacturability issues related to machining, injection molding and recently, the additive manufacturing. As the first author, he has published 8 refereed journal papers since 2015 in reputed international journals such as: Computer-Aided Design, Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization, etc. Five more journal papers are under revision and a few more currently under review. He also severed as the paper reviewer for the Additive Manufacturing journal. His recent research is closely collaborating with the Ansys Additive Manufacturing Lab at University of Pittsburgh, USA.
